We have chosen to run this year’s BikeFest South, the annual meeting of the BikeFest Club, at the world-famous Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit in Sussex.
The best way to get to Goodwood is by road, we have acres of hard standing for parking motorcycles and plenty of car parking for anyone who wants to come by car and bring the family.
You can also get to Goodwood by train to Chichester and then grab a cab to the circuit.
Staying in the area
If you want to treat yourself to something fancy then book yourself into the Goodwood Hotel.
There are lots of other hotels in and around the Chichester area to suit any budget, but they are already filling up, so best jump onto trip adviser or laterooms to see what you can find.
We’ve found two great campsites which have agreed to reserve spaces for visitors to BikeFest South – just let them know you have booked and give them your reference number from the booking to confirm
For tents and motorhomes we have secured 70+ spaces at New House Farm located to the north of the Goodwood Estate on private farmland in the heart of the South Downs National Park. With eighty pitches set high on the downs, this is a stunning and unique location from which participants can enjoy Bikefest to its fullest. Pitches cost £5 each, with an additional £5 per adult (£3.50 under 16s). With two excellent local pubs within walking distance and the shops of Chichester and Midhurst available for provisions, the site is five minutes drive from the Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit and some of the best riding in the South East. Please note, there are toilet facilities but no showers on site.
Those if you who fancy coming down with a caravan or wanting more facilities should check out the Graffham Camping and Caravanning site
This is a quiet 90 pitch site in the middle of the South Downs National Park, about a 15-20 minute drive to the Goodwood Motor racing Circuit. With excellent shower and WC facilities, Wifi Hotspots and secluded pitches, this is the perfect location for exhibitors and guests to regroup before and after the event. The local towns of Midhurst and Petworth offer plenty in the way of provisions and shopping, and there are a number of local pubs. Please note, because of the location only gas barbeques are permitted.
Prices £7.50-£12.50 per person per night.
If neither of those tickle your fancy, there’s a great selection of campsites in the West Sussex area, try this link for ideas…
Don’t spoil your day before you get here
We do advise anyone coming to the show to show a bit of restraint as the Sussex police are fully aware that we could have as many as 10,000 bikers turning up so they will be keeping a very close eye on the roads around the area and leading to it.
Look after our neighbours…
As Goodwood is in a residential area we need to show that bikers are a decent bunch – we know this already – so please don’t go racing and revving while approaching or leaving the circuit. It will only take a few complaints for us to find we can’t use Goodwood again.
